SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Sara A. Konkel, a Maryland native, has taught at Gallaudet University since 2004 and is a Ph.D. student at University of Maryland.  She is interested in the ecology and evolution of plants, and one of her long-term research goals is to understand how climate change affects plant-pollinator interactions.

For her dissertation, Ms. Konkel is currently studying the little-known reproductive ecology of a perennial, insect-pollinated species and the role of pollinator-mediated phenotypic selection in shaping its floral characteristics.

Students who are interested in getting field and lab experience and learning about pollination are encouraged to contact her.

Ms. Konkel has taught Introduction to Biology and Ecology.
