SHORT BIOGRAPHY Jorge Santiago-Blay, Ph.D. is an Adjunct Professor at Gallaudet University, a Research Collaborator in the Department of Paleobiology of the National Museum of Natural History (Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.), an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland, and faculty at the University of Puerto Rico. Dr. Santiago-Blay has held research and/or teaching positions at the University of California at Berkeley, San Francisco State University, and at The University of Chicago. He has served as Department Chair at Vista Community College in Berkeley, California and has held administrative positions at other academic institutions. Dr. Santiago-Blay is Editor-in-Chief of Terrestrial Arthropod Reviews and scientific co-editor of the new series Research in the Chrysomelidae. He is also Associate Editor of the Journal of Agriculture of the University of Puerto Rico. He has received numerous grants to support his broad and multidisciplinary research and is an author of over 60 research papers in refereed journals, as well as many book chapters, abstracts, posters, articles for non-scientists, and lectures on topics related to evolution, ecology, entomology, botany, and paleobiology. He has been nominated twice for national teaching awards.
